Afena Gyan is Ghana’s Hope Against Nigeria

Ghana’s hottest striker Afena Gyan who doubles as a player for AS ROMA in the Italian Seria A is going to be a threat against the Nigerian team as speculated by some Nigerian fans.

The clash which has been dubbed by supporters of both countries as the #JollofDerby, will be played at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi. This clash brings together the best players of Ghana and Nigeria and will be a close one to call as predicted by most sports analyst and enthusiast.

Afena Gyan who started his football playing career in the western region of Ghana was scouted during an inter schools football competition and from there, he signed for AS ROMA’s youth team. After spectacular performances at the youth side, Jose Mourinho brought him up higher the ranks into the senior team.

The versatile striker repayed that trust by scoring two goals in crucial matches to help AS ROMA juggle their way past opponents. Afena Gyan is described by many as the best striker to replace Ghana’s leading scorer Asamoah Gyan and will be Ghana’s hope if Ghana is to qualify.

His strength, ball control and attitude towards work is one of the best and should he be given the chance to strike against the super eagles of Nigeria today, Ghana will definitely come up victorious.

This is his first National Team assignment and sources close to the striker indicates that, he is eager to play, defend the badge of Ghana and score more goals.

Asked if he was tensed about the match, the striker said he dream’t of playing for Black one day and being called up by the current black stars coah Otto Addo is huge honor for him and he promised to repay that with total commitment to help achieve the aim of the Black Stars team.
