Tema Central NDC Calls for Calm, Unity Ahead of MCE Appointment

In a firm yet conciliatory message, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Constituency Executive Committee of Tema Central is calling for unity and calm among residents, party faithfuls, and the general public amidst discussions over the imminent appointment of a new Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Tema Metropolitan Assembly.
Led by Hon. Benjamin Djakumah — the constituency chairman of Tema Central and the overarching chairman of all three NDC constituencies in Tema (Tema East, Central, and West). The committee emphasized the need for a peaceful and inclusive environment as President John Dramani Mahama prepares to name his appointee.
“At this critical time in our democratic journey, we urge everyone to remain calm and united. Let us respect due process and refrain from actions or comments that may divide us,” said Hon. Djakumah.
The Committee acknowledged that the appointment of an MCE is a constitutional responsibility of the President, carried out through broad consultations to ensure the appointee serves the collective interests of the people.
They expressed confidence in the President’s decision-making, trusting that the eventual nominee will embody competence, vision, and a deep commitment to inclusive development for all communities in Tema.
A Call for Peace and Collaboration
As tensions and speculations grow around the nomination process, the message from the NDC leadership is clear: let peace and unity guide our responses.
“Let us prioritize the progress of Tema over personal or partisan interests. We, the people of Tema Central, pledge our support to any nominee chosen by the President in the interest of unity and development,” the release added.
This strong and unifying stance comes as a timely reminder of the need for constructive dialogue, mutual respect, and a shared vision for Tema’s growth.
