Dorma: 7-Month Pregnant Woman Killed in Her Farm

A wave of shock has hit the Dormaa West District in the Bono Region following the gruesome murder of a 27-year old pregnant woman, Haggar Nyorkpatey, whose body was discovered on her farm at Yaw Wusukrom near Nkrankwanta.

According to a police report, the tragic incident occurred on Thursday, November 6, 2025, when the deceased who was seven months pregnant left for her farm and never returned.

The Bono Regional Police Command confirmed in a statement signed by Chief Inspector Thomas Akeelah, the Regional PRO, that preliminary investigations revealed Haggar’s throat had been slit with a sharp object by an unknown assailant.

Investigators found blood clots in her mouth and ear canal, along with foam mixed with blood around her neck area, suggesting a violent and painful death.

A relative, Charles Asante (57), reported to the police that Haggar—] his younger brother’s wife—had gone to her farm around 8:30 a.m. but failed to return home later that day. Worried community members organized a search, which led to the horrific discovery of her lifeless body on her farm.

Police officers who arrived at the scene confirmed that Haggar had been murdered and was visibly pregnant at the time of her death.

The deceased’s body has since been conveyed to the Dormaa-Ahenkro Presbyterian Hospital mortuary for preservation and autopsy.

Authorities say investigations are underway to uncover the motive behind the killing and identify those responsible for the heinous act.

“Efforts are underway to identify and apprehend the suspects responsible for this crime,” the police statement said.

The brutal killing has left residents of Yaw Wusukrom and surrounding communities in fear, calling on security agencies to intensify patrols and ensure justice for the young expectant mother.
