Though decades have passed with the rhinestones yellowed and the fabric showing visible stains, the item’s connection to Jackson’s legendary stage presence drove intense bidding. The sock was originally valued between €3,000 and €4,000 but nearly doubled expectations.
Jackson was known for his flamboyant performance accessories, including the glove worn during his first iconic “moonwalk” in 1983, which sold for $350,000 in 2009, and a fedora hat auctioned in Paris last year for over $80,000.
