Tema Explores Sister City Partnership with Wuyi County, China to Boost Trade, Innovation, and Jobs

In line with the government’s resetting agenda and international collaboration, the Mayor of Tema, Hon. Ebi Bright, has announced a promising engagement with a high-level delegation from Wuyi County, China.
Led by Dr. Benjamin Anyagre, General Secretary of the Ghana-China Friendship Association, and accompanied by the Tema Regional Chairman, the delegation was warmly welcomed at the Tema Metropolitan Assembly. The discussions centered on forging a sister city partnership between Tema and Wuyi County a strategic alliance poised to transform the local economy.

The proposed partnership is expected to open doors for cooperation in key sectors including trade, technological transfer, smart home appliances, high-end equipment manufacturing, and the sports & leisure industry.
Speaking on the significance of the engagement, Hon. Ebi Bright emphasized that Tema is “ready for strategic global partnerships that bring innovation, quality jobs, and sustainable growth to our people.” She added that this initiative is “not just about building bridges; it’s about shaping a smarter, more prosperous Tema for all.”

This Sister City Partnership aligns with Tema’s broader vision of positioning itself as a hub for smart development, sustainable urban growth, and cutting-edge industrial opportunities.

With the groundwork now laid, the Mayor expressed optimism that this collaboration marks the beginning of a new chapter for Tema one where international alliances drive local progress.
