What began as a missing person report has now turned into a major homicide case involving ritual killings, with six individuals currently in police custody facing serious charges.

Missing Person Case Unravels Chilling Crime

The investigation was triggered by a complaint from Comfort Hatse, a trader from Donkorkrom and the mother of Nelson Anyana. She filed a missing person report on December 17, 2024, after her son failed to return home. Nelson had last been seen on December 4, when he reportedly left to meet a woman, Augustina Fiawoyife.

Police say Augustina, the first suspect, was in a relationship with the second suspect, herbalist Wisdom Hedidor. Investigations revealed that Hedidor had grown jealous of Nelson’s relationship with Augustina and conspired to kill him.

RITUAL KILLING

On December 12, Augustina lured Nelson to a secluded area near the DC Bungalow in Adidome. As they spoke, Hedidor and a third suspect, Courage Bedzo, a kente weaver, ambushed and strangled him to death. Augustina allegedly stood by and watched the act unfold.

Ritualistic Exchange and Shrine Burial

The case took an even darker turn when it was uncovered that Gblor Noah, also known as Ekpedzi—a fetish priest—had previously solicited a human body for ritual purposes. Bedzo conveyed the request to Hedidor, who agreed to the killing.

Following the murder, the suspects contacted Gblor Noah, who arrived at the scene with his younger brother, Gblor Yohannes. The group allegedly paid GH¢7,000 for Nelson’s body, which they transported to their shrine in Gblorkope.

There, ritual ceremonies were performed using the body before it was buried under one of the idols at the shrine.

More Remains Found Under Idols

In a joint operation led by homicide detectives from Ho and accompanied by three key suspects, police searched the shrine and made a horrifying discovery. Nelson’s decomposed body was exhumed, along with three additional skeletal remains buried beneath different idols. Nearby bushes also yielded assorted human body parts, indicating that the location may have been used for multiple ritual killings.

The suspects, all residents of Mafi Adidome, are

  • Augustina Fiawoyife (unemployed)

  • Wisdom Hedidor (herbalist)

  • Courage Bedzo (kente weaver)

  • Gblor Noah a.k.a. Ekpedzi (fetish priest, 37)

  • Gblor John (security guard, 38)

  • Gblor Yohannes (lotto writer, 27)

The last three are siblings and believed to be operators of the Gblorkope shrine.

All six suspects have been arraigned before a District Court in Ho. They are facing charges of conspiracy to commit murder and abetment of crime. Meanwhile, the police have confirmed that forensic examinations are ongoing to identify the additional remains and determine the full scale of the alleged crimes.

Public Reaction and Police Assurance

The discovery has sent shockwaves across the Central Tongu District. Residents are gripped by fear and anger, with many demanding swift justice and deeper investigations into potential ritual networks operating in the Volta Region.

The Ghana Police Service has pledged to pursue the case with the utmost diligence. Authorities reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring that all those involved in these heinous crimes face the full force of the law.
