According to the findings, eight people lost their lives during the 2020 elections, while three more were killed in similar incidents during the 2024 polls. Several others sustained injuries in constituencies across the country.
The IGP’s report was submitted following President Mahama’s directive shortly after taking office. This move comes in response to growing calls from civil society groups for accountability and justice in the face of politically motivated violence.
By tasking the Attorney General with reviewing the findings, President Mahama hopes to ensure that those responsible are held accountable and that preventive measures are put in place ahead of future elections.
The Presidency has reiterated its commitment to the rule of law and pledged to strengthen public confidence in Ghana’s democratic processes.
