MINING SECTOR NOTICE: RCOMSDEP WARNS OF IMPERSONATION AND EXTORTION SCHEME

The Responsible Cooperative Mining and Skills Development Programme (rCOMSDEP) has issued a strong public warning following reports of fraudulent individuals and groups impersonating officials of the Secretariat to extort money from unsuspecting miners.
According to the Programme, these impersonators are falsely presenting themselves as agents of rCOMSDEP, promising to secure access to mineral-rich areas under the guise of facilitating enrollment in the Responsible Cooperative Mining Scheme.

However, the Secretariat has emphatically denied authorizing any such agents or representatives across the country.“rCOMSDEP does not have agents and has not authorized any individuals or groups in any region to conduct registration of miners for the Responsible Cooperative Mining Scheme,” the Programme stated in a public disclaimer.
The Programme urged the public to disregard any person or group engaging in miner registrations on its behalf, describing them as unscrupulous actors with the intent of defrauding the public.
rCOMSDEP also cautioned that individuals caught conducting such illegal activities would face arrest, prosecution, and sanctions under Ghanaian law.
In its advisory, the Programme encouraged citizens to remain vigilant and report suspected fraudsters directly to the Ghana Police Service without delay. For official updates and inquiries on responsible cooperative mining, the public may visit the rCOMSDEP website or contact its national office through the provided channels.
The statement was signed by National Coordinator rCOMSDEP, Ing. Frank Asare
