The Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations has given MultiChoice Ghana, the company behind DStv, a final warning: comply with regulatory demands or face a complete shutdown by September 6, 2025.

This latest move intensifies the standoff between the government and the pay-TV giant over transparency in pricing. The Ministry insists that MultiChoice must provide a detailed breakdown of its bouquet prices, taxes, and how they compare with at least six other African countries. The goal? To ensure fair pricing for Ghanaian consumers.

During an interview on Citi Eyewitness News, Sector Minister Samuel Nartey George revealed that despite an extended deadline (August 11), MultiChoice failed to submit the required information. Instead, the company asked for more time to prepare a “consolidated response” a move the Minister dismissed as unnecessary delay.

“The suspension notice is clear—they failed to comply with our initial request,” Nartey George stated. “Under their license terms, we have the authority to suspend operations in the public interest. We’ve already imposed a daily fine of GHC10,000 starting today (August 15). If they don’t resolve this by September 6, we will halt all DStv transmissions in Ghana.”

The clock is ticking for MultiChoice. Will they comply, or will Ghanaian DStv subscribers face a blackout in just a few weeks? Stay tuned for updates.
