Ambassador Nørring was accompanied by the Sector Counsellor, Mr. Mathias Thuborg, along with other officials from the Danish Embassy in Accra. The visit comes at a time when Tema is poised for a renewed phase of development and international cooperation under the leadership of Mayor Bright.
In her welcome remarks, Hon. Ebi Bright expressed deep appreciation for the Ambassador’s visit, describing it as a reaffirmation of the long-standing partnership between Tema and Denmark. “Your presence here today is both symbolic and reassuring,” she said. “It reflects a shared commitment to deepening our ties and enhancing collaborative efforts, especially in critical sectors like environmental management.”
The Tema-Aarhus partnership, which has been at the heart of strategic cooperation between the two cities, was a key subject of the discussions. Mayor Bright gave assurances that under her administration, the collaboration with Aarhus—Denmark’s second-largest city—will experience significant revitalization. “I am determined to ensure that the Tema-Aarhus relationship flourishes, particularly in areas that align with our local development priorities,” she noted.
Ambassador Nørring, in his remarks, commended the Tema Metropolitan Assembly for its impressive progress in the Strategic Sector Cooperation (SSC) project on Wastewater Management—a joint initiative between Tema and Aarhus. “We are very encouraged by the results so far,” he stated. “The SSC is a practical example of how international cooperation can bring about sustainable solutions to urban challenges.”
He further emphasized Denmark’s continued support for projects that promote environmental sustainability and inclusive urban growth. “The future holds great promise for Tema and Aarhus, provided we stay on course and work together towards shared goals,” Ambassador Nørring affirmed.
Following the formal discussions, Mayor Bright and her guests undertook a guided tour of the Day Care Facility located within the TMA premises. The visit offered the Danish delegation an opportunity to witness firsthand some of the social infrastructure initiatives underway in the metropolis.
The visit by H.E. Tom Nørring not only reinforces Denmark’s diplomatic commitment to local governance in Ghana but also signals a renewed phase of collaboration that could significantly benefit the people of Tema.
As Tema charts a new course under the stewardship of Hon. Ebi Bright, such engagements underscore the importance of global partnerships in achieving sustainable urban development.
