Cristiano Ronaldo: My Return Exceeded My Expectations

Cristiano Ronaldo conceded his “incredible” return to Manchester joined together had surpassed his desires as the Portugal star shrugged off his nerves to score twice in Saturday’s 4-1 win against Newcastle.

Ronaldo returned to join together in a blockbuster move from Juventus final month of the transfer window, 12 longs years after exiting the gates of Old Trafford to play at Real Madrid.

The 36-year-old marked his return with a goal in each half of the 90 minutes in fashion before 76,000 revering fans who had traveled far and near just to have a glimpse of their star return home where he has always belonged.

Ronaldo’s two goals was followed subsequently by goals from Bruno Fernandes and Jesse Lingard as  they joined in the celebrations to move top of the premier league.

It was indeed way better return than Ronaldo envisioned amid his excitements on how to perform on his dream return to the club that groomed him to conquer the world.

This stage and time is all about precision and perfection so as to get the scripts well written into the good books of history at Old Trafford.

“I didn’t anticipate to score two goals. I anticipated one but not two goals. I need to appreciate the fans and what they did to me today. I feel so pleased for that,” he told BBC Sport.

“Of course I am cheerful to score goals, I am not pretending to deny that but the foremost imperative thing is the group and the teams ability to perform well for the season.

In attendance was former Manchester United Coach Sir Alex Ferguson, the man credited with discovering Cristiano Ronaldo and grooming him into the lethal and dangerous striker he is today even at age 36.
