A 35-year-old woman, Faustina Ackom, is fighting for her life after being shot by her husband, 41-year-old Wahibu Bukari, following a heated argument over alleged infidelity. The incident happened early Sunday morning in Anum, a community in the Central Region’s Assin North district.

Faustina suffered gunshot wounds to her left arm and breast and is currently receiving treatment at St. Xavier Hospital in Assin Fosu. The couple, married for 10 years with four children, had been embroiled in tension after Bukari—reportedly unwell for some time—accused his wife of cheating.
According to neighbors, the confrontation turned violent around 12:30 AM when Bukari, having discovered unfamiliar phone numbers on Faustina’s phone, confronted her. Witnesses say the argument escalated, and as Faustina tried to escape, her husband allegedly shot her twice.
“We heard her screaming for help around 1 AM,” said Lydia Yeboah, a neighbor. “By the time people rushed in, the husband had already fled.”

Authorities believe Bukari may have escaped to nearby towns like Assin Fosu, Kushia, or Twifo Praso. Police from the Assin Fosu Division have visited the hospital to gather statements and assess the victim’s condition while investigations continue.
