Profile of Hon. Ebi Bright
Hon. Ebi Bright, a distinguished Ghanaian leader with deep interests in inclusive development, youth empowerment, and good governance, is poised to serve the people of Tema Metropolis in this new role. Ms. Bright commands a wealth of experience in Public Service, Business, Diplomacy, Communications, Creative Industry, and Social and Cultural Advocacy.
She is a proud Ga-Adangbe of Prampram, Ada, and Yilo Krobo origins, and represents five generations of lifelong residents in Tema, where she continues to live, raise her family, and engage in business, community and social leadership. She also boasts a proud Ewe heritage as a daughter of Anyako in the Volta Region of Ghana, deeply rooted in the lineage of her father, a distinguished Professor of Arts.
A true daughter of Tema, she received her foundational education at Tema Royal Preparatory and Datus Secondary School, both located in Community 7. Her academic journey continued internationally and locally, earning a Management degree from the University of Leicester in the United Kingdom. She also holds a First-Class Honours degree in Development Communication from the African University College of Communications (AUCC), an Executive Master’s in Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) and Mediation, and a Master’s degree in Global Diplomacy from SOAS, University of London—among other academic and professional qualifications.
Hon. Bright was the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for Tema Central Constituency in the 2016, 2020, and 2024 elections. Though awaiting the Supreme Court ruling to restore her win in the 2024 Parliamentary Elections, her resilience in contesting three consecutive times has earned her widespread admiration. Today, she stands as a powerful symbol of perseverance and determination, and a role model for young women and the youth across Ghana, demonstrating that persistence in public service can lead to impactful leadership.
She also played a strategic role as Coordinator of the Culture, Arts and Tourism Committee of the LAB to deliver the blueprint for the NDC Manifesto during the 2024 Campaign. Hon. Ebi provided strategic branding and marketing services to several organizations and candidates in support of the national campaign over the past 10 years. She actively participates in many intellectual think tanks and policy formulation activities of the party.
Importantly, Hon. Ebi Bright served the late President Jerry John Rawlings between 2015 and 2020 as his Strategic Communications Adviser and Spokesperson, managing his official engagements on high-level international assignments across the world.

Her career path reflects a dynamic blend of entrepreneurial vision and creative expression. Between 2002 and 2007, she served as Head of Product Development and Marketing at Riskuwa Telcoms, a start-up she co-founded. From 2009 to 2015, she became a recognized figure in the West African movie industry, featuring in over 30 films and series. Her media and arts career began at the tender age of three and has evolved into a lifelong passion for music and creative performance. She is also a trained hairdresser with several years of professional competency.
An accomplished entrepreneur, Hon. Bright has run a successful business in Communications Consultancy and has led ventures in Interior Design and the supply of construction materials across West Africa. She is also known for her dedication to social causes, providing pro-bono services in leadership training, alternative dispute resolution, mentorship, career guidance, conflict resolution, and advocacy for youth and marginalized communities.
