Hon. Ebi Bright Engages Youth of Tema Central, Pledges Support for Sustainable Businesses and Empowerment Initiatives

Hon. Ebi Bright, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for Tema Central, made a strong case for youth empowerment and sustainable economic development during a well-attended youth engagement event on Wednesday, October 9, 2024. Supported by the NDC’s National Youth Organizer, George Opare Addo, popularly known as Pablo, the event was an opportunity for Hon. Bright to connect with young workers in the Light Industrial Area of Tema Central and share her vision for the constituency’s future.

Addressing the workers, she emphasized the importance of robust policies that not only support existing businesses but also create opportunities for new ventures, with a focus on benefiting the youth. She outlined a series of forward-thinking policies that the NDC intends to implement, which she believes will revitalize Tema Central’s economy and foster long-lasting businesses that can sustain future generations.

Key Policies Presented by Hon. Ebi Bright:

ADWUMAWURA Policy:

At the forefront of her campaign is the “ADWUMAWURA” policy, an initiative aimed at facilitating the creation, tracking, and incubation of businesses. This policy is designed to provide a structured approach to helping both major factories and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) transition into sustainable, long-lasting businesses. By doing so, it will provide stable employment opportunities for the youth in Tema Central.

Tema Central Nonpartisan Fund for Young Entrepreneurs:

To further promote youth entrepreneurship, Hon. Ebi Bright announced plans to establish the Tema Nonpartisan Fund, which will offer financial and business incubation support to young entrepreneurs. This fund will be administered without political biases, ensuring fair access to the support needed to grow innovative businesses that can drive economic growth.

Redevelopment of the Light Industrial Area:

Hon. Bright shared her vision for transforming the Light Industrial Area into an ultra-modern Technical Services, Vocational, and Artisanal Hub. This hub will serve as a key subscription point of the National Apprenticeship Program, providing training and skills development for young people in various technical and vocational fields, preparing them for meaningful careers with the added benefits of allowances and start-up support through their tutelage.

In line with her passion for education and skills development, Hon. Ebi Bright announced the creation of My TC EduCare, an online educational platform designed to enhance e-learning, adult education, and scholarship opportunities. This platform will make education more accessible to people of all ages in Tema Central, empowering them to improve their skills and unlock new career opportunities.

Redevelopment of Tema General Hospital:

Another critical initiative in her plan is to lobby for the redevelopment of the Tema General Hospital into a state-of-the-art referral hospital. This upgrade will ensure that the facility meets international standards, improving healthcare delivery and management for the people and industries of Tema Central. The goal is to provide better health outcomes and ensure that residents have access to quality medical services.

Establishment of a Radio and TV Station for Tema Central:

To ensure that the stories and voices of the constituency are heard, she also outlined plans to establish a dedicated radio and TV station for Tema Central. This media platform will serve as a powerful tool for promoting local culture, addressing community concerns and accountability, and showcasing the progress and development of the constituency to a wider audience.
