Prompt Health Alert International Empowers Over 400 Adolescent Girls in Kpando

Prompt Health Alert International (PHAI) has successfully carried out a major community health outreach in Kpando and its environs, empowering over 400 adolescent girls through comprehensive menstral hygiene education and support.

The outreach, which took place on Friday, December 12, formed part of the organization’s December humanitarian initiative aimed at promoting adolescent reproductive health, dignity, and confidence, while also supporting breastfeeding mothers within the beneficiary communities.

The menstral hygiene education sessions specifically benefited students drawn from selected basic and junior high schools in the area. The participating schools included:

  1. Anfoega E.P. School
  2. Sovie JHS
  3. Dafor R/C Basic School
  4. Dafor-Tonu R/C School

Health educators engaged the girls in interactive discussions focused on understanding menstruation, maintaining proper personal hygiene, and dispelling myths and stigma associated with menstrual health.

Over 400 Girls Educated and Supported

In total, more than 400 adolescent girls were educated on menstrual hygiene management, covering key areas such as:

Proper use and disposal of sanitary pads

Personal cleanliness during menstruation

Menstral health awareness and self-care

Building self-confidence and self-esteem

To reinforce the educational sessions, sanitary pads were distributed to all participating girls to help them manage their menstral periods with dignity and reduce the burden of period poverty, which often leads to school absenteeism.

Community Response and Organizational Commitment

Community leaders, school authorities, parents, and beneficiaries expressed appreciation to Prompt Health Alert International for the timely and impactful intervention. Many described the outreach as a significant step toward improving adolescent health education and maternal support in underserved areas.

The initiative was organized under PHAI’s Sponsorship Campaign, which seeks to mobilize support from individuals, corporate bodies, and development partners to sustain similar programs across Ghana.

As echoed throughout the event, Prompt Health Alert International remains committed to its guiding message:
“Stay Healthy, Stay Happy.”
