How To Register Your Sim With GhanaCard

The Minister of Communications Ursula Owusu-Ekuful has instructed all Telecos in the country to pull their weight behind the re-registration of all sim cards in the country.

This is targeted at getting a strong database for the country and help curb the growing threat of cyber crime in Ghana and also help the NIA in an effort to getting all Ghanaians onboard the national database.

The exercise is expected to end in the month of March, 2022 by which the Ministry expects all Ghanaians to have registered their sims and sims that are dormant will be blocked.

To help our cherished readers, Ghparrot outlines the steps needed to re-register your sim using the GhanaCard.

Steps;

  1. Dial shortcode *404# on the phones
  2. Enter your GhanaCard Pin with letters included (Do this without hyphens)
  3. Confirm GhanaCard Pin
  4. Enter your Surname / Last Name / Family name as shown on GhanaCard
  5. Enter First Name(s)
  6. Enter Date of Birth (using this format: DD-MM-YYYY) Eg. 01/05/1900 representing 1st May, 1900.
  7. Select Sex / Gender
  8. Confirm your details
  9. Now submit details provided after confirmation

When you do this the right way, a unique code will be sent to you if successful.

If for any reason you are unsuccessful in your bid to register, you will have three (3) security questions to answer or be informed to reach out to the National Identification Authority (NIA).

Finally visit your service provider’s nearest office (mtn, vodafone, glo, airtel-tigo) to complete this stage of the registration
