E-Levy Is Stealing – Netizens Share Screenshots Of GHc50 Transactions With GHC1.25p Charges

Today marks the second day since the implementation of the electronic levy and there is chaos already on social media over some absurd charges.
Before the implementation of the e-levy policy, it was announced that every mobile money transaction above GHc 100 will attract a 1.5% deduction starting from Sunday, May 1st, 2022. However, most Ghanaians have detected some absurd deductions.

Some social media users have lambasted the president over the e-levy while others have shared screenshots of a GHc50 transaction they did which attracted 1.25%; a percentage which was meant for transactions about Ghc100.

Mr. Akuffo also tweeted, “Early this morning I went to make a transaction with a merchant and he asked me to use momo-pay. Guess what, the guy said I should pay 51.5 because I wanted to redraw 50 cedis. Prior to this, I learned making a transaction less than 100 will not attract the E-Levy.”
